There has been a long legal battle dating back since 90s between the school authority and the family of late Owelle of Onitsha. On many occasions the school has tried renovating the blocks of flat to get students use them but to no avail due to the claim to the actual owner(s) of the buildings.Different vice chancellors have deployed different approach in the past to bring the feud to an end all to no avail.
The school authority resorted to constructing hostels especially for the female students inside school while these ones are left in this ruin.Remember that Ziks flat is an off campus blocks single handedly built by Azikiwe and handed over to the University of Nigeria.
