Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje opens up about His Parents Giving Him up to Foster Care, Being Teased for His “Unusual” Name & More | Watch


British\Nigerian actor and former fashion model Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was a guest on Wendy Williams’ talk show recently to promote upcoming movie “Suicide Squad” which he stars in.

The 48-year-old actor is of Nigerian origin and as he sits to chat with Wendy on the purple couch he notes the fact that she pronounced his name right to which Wendy reveals that she’d been practicing.
This opens up the conversation to his “unusual” name and how when he was 7, and in a predominantly white school, the teachers started calling him Robert in a bid to get him to change his name. He also talks about how his Nigerian parents gave him up to foster care in the UK as a baby. However, they came back for him at age 7.
